War's Hidden Cost- John H. Cushman Jr.

"When bombs fall, some of them will fall on the wrong people". How true this is, yet how sad. So many times innocent people are killed. They call this collateral damage. Recently the Pentagon mentioned of people dying in a bombing strike in Tora Bora. I was completely shocked to hear of the many innocent women and children that were killed.

The coverage of an air war is especially difficult. When bombs fall on unintended targets should the result be pubicized to the general public? Or should it be censored in the interest of the war effort and morale? Can you have a war in which mistakes are broadcast to the public and still maintain public support for the war? Do the ends justify the means?
